Let’s take to the streets! International Women’s Day is March 8th, and all weekend there will be activity around the globe in support of Women. While women the world over are seeing our rights and dignity trampled over, I refuse to be silent about it. If you’ve been wanting to use your voice for good, come stand side-by-side with your Big Island sisters in solidarity to say “We Won’t Go Back!” Whether you wish to say women should be believed, women belong in sports, women should have bodily autonomy, or something else, this is the time. Join us to let the world know that Hawaii Stands With Women. Bring your signs, your music, whatever you want and make the women of Hilo HI feel supported, protected, and believed.
It may not feel like much, but it’s a start. We must take a stand now. We must unite with our sisters and demand more for women everywhere. Just because it’s Women’s Day doesn’t mean this fight is only fought by women. Men are absolutely invited to join us in solidarity! If you love and support women, your presence is welcome.
